About Jo
Jo Tinney was born and grew up in Fermanagh. She studied painting for 3 years at Belfast College of Art and then Art Education at Manchester University, graduating as a Teacher of Art and Design (B.Ed). She spent the following 10 years teaching Art and Design in Mount Lourdes Grammar School, Enniskillen before leaving to concentrate full time on her career as a painter in 1985.
Where to find her work
Her first solo exhibition was held in The Studio at Ardhowen, Enniskillen in 1992 and since then her work has been exhibited all over Ireland and the UK. Her current work is always available to view in her Studio in the Buttermarket Designyard, Enniskillen and online here.
Elsewhere
Her paintings in watercolour, pastel and acrylics can now be found in many parts of the world in the collections of people such as President Clinton, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, the Dublin Merrion Hotel, the University of Limerick and the Manor House Country Hotel. She has been elected to The Ulster Watercolour Society, The Arts Society of Ulster and The Watercolour Society of Ireland.

Won the ‘Laing Watercolour Award’ at the Higgin Gallery in Belfast.
1996
Work selected to illustrate the Laing Group International Calendar.

Presented with the Max McCabe award by the Ulster Society of Women Artists.

Opened a Studio/Gallery at The Buttermarket Designyard in Enniskillen.
1998

Career reviewed on 'Awash with Colour' on BBC Television.

Presented with the Wilfred Haughton Award by the Ulster Watercolour Society, becoming the first female artist to receive this honour.

2011
In October 2011 a specially commissioned stained glass window telling the story of the life of St Ninnidh and designed and painted by Jo, was installed and blessed in the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Bundoran, Co Donegal.

In September 2012 a second stained glass window was commissioned, again by Canon Ramon Munster, for the same Church and was designed and painted by Jo, titled 'Our Lady Star of the Sea'.

Jo holds annual exhibitions of new work in her Studio, The Buttermarket Designyard, Enniskillen, Nr Ireland.
